Cypress for Fungal Infections

Cypress essential oil demonstrates antifungal activity against Candida species. The main component of cypress essential oil is alpha-pinene, while other constituents are gamme-3-carene, sabinene, and cedrol. These chemicals hinder fungal growth as well as disrupt the formation of biofilm by Candida species. [2]

Cypress for Allergic Rhinitis

A systematic review conducted by Wilson et al. demonstrated sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) of allergic rhinitis using different herbal ingredients including cypress. [3]

Antimicrobial Activity of Cypress

Cypress essential oil has antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and this activity is primarily attributed to alpha-pinene and cedrol present in the oil. [4]
